Gender Discrimination

The gender discrimination has been a polemic at the Olympic Games since they started and this isn´t exceeded yet.  Along the history of the modern Olympic Games women has been introduced in the various sports of the Olympic program. But it has also been an element of decoration for the competition.

Olympic committee includes that nobody can be discriminated because of gender, but it also giving more privileges to men's sport.

They have many complains, because Olympics has less than 10 percent of female representation.  The number of countries that hasn´t got female representation is being reduced. For example: In Sidney 2000, 9 countries hadn´t got female representation, in Athens 2004, six countries hadn´t got female representation and in Beijing 2008 there was an improve, more than 42 percent of representation were women.

Nowadays, only Arabian States don´t send women to these kinds of competitions. But it can be the first time; The Organization of the Olympic Games is thinking about the idea of allowing women to participate at London´s 2012. But Saudi Arabia persuade in their idea of ban women in the competition, the reply of people was: ‘We do not wan´t Saudi Arabia at London 2012’

Saudi Arabia, Quatar and Brunei never sent a woman to the Olympics. Only three countries along the competition. They have a special religious and beliefs, that could be the reason why they don´t send women.  But this hasn´t justification and it will change through the time.
